Job description

 

The Quality Analyst is responsible for monitoring and improving the quality of products through comprehensive testing, analysis, and documentation processes. This role is crucial in ensuring that all products meet internal standards and regulatory compliance for safety, flammability, and chemical testing, especially for new product releases. The Quality Analyst will work closely with production, engineering, and supplier teams to identify quality issues, implement corrective actions, and support continuous improvement,

To be successful as a quality analyst, you should demonstrate strong attention to detail and have analytical and problem-solving abilities. The ideal candidate must be able to interpret and implement quality assurance standards and provide accurate and comprehensive feedback to colleagues.

Essential Functions

1. Performance Reporting and Corrective Actions:

·       Monthly Industrial Deck Performance Reporting: Gather, analyze, and report on monthly performance metrics for the Industrial Deck. Highlight areas requiring improvement and propose corrective actions.

·       Corrective and Preventive Actions (CARs): Document and follow up on Corrective Action Requests (CARs), ensuring they are effectively implemented and documented to avoid recurring issues.

2. Supplier Quality Management:

·       DMRs and Vendors Notifications: Process Discrepant Material Reports (DMRs) and notify vendors of non-conforming materials.

·       Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCARs): Initiate and manage SCARs when defects are detected in supplier-provided materials or products. Track SCAR resolution and supplier performance metrics.

·       Scorecard Reporting: Prepare and maintain monthly vendor scorecards, evaluating supplier quality performance based on defect rates, SCARs, on-time delivery, and responsiveness.

3. Engineering Change Management:

·       Engineering Change Orders (ECO) and Engineering Change Notifications (ECN): Track, review, and implement ECOs and ECNs related to product and process changes. Ensure these changes are documented and comply with quality standards.

·       Document Control: Maintain updated quality documentation, including ECOs, ECNs, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and work instructions (WIs), in accordance with document control policies.

4. Work Instructions (WI) Development:

·       New Product WI Development: Develop and implement detailed Work Instructions (WIs) for all new products, collaborating with production and engineering teams to ensure accurate and comprehensive guidelines.

 

5. Testing and Compliance:

  • Flammability & Chemical Testing: Coordinate and conduct flammability and chemical testing on new products and re-test existing products as required by regulatory bodies (e.g., 16 CFR 1632, 16 CFR 1633, BS7177:2008+A1:2011, Etc).
  • RH Portal Testing: Manage the list of flagged products for testing in the RH (Regulatory and Health) portal, ensuring all flagged products meet safety and regulatory standards.
  • Testing Method Development: Develop, refine, and validate new testing methods to ensure consistency, accuracy, and alignment with evolving industry standards.

6. Scrap and Return Analysis:

  • Scrap Reporting: Collect and analyze data on returned items identified as scrap. Report on trends, root causes, and work with production, plant quality, and supply chain teams to reduce scrap rates.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Continuous Improvement Initiatives: Identify and implement improvement opportunities within quality processes, enhancing efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.
    • Ensure ongoing compliance with quality and industry regulatory requirements as assigned by the Quality Manager.
    • Keep control of Measuring devices and calibration frequencies.
  • Training and Support: Assist in training production staff in quality standards, best practices, and any new WIs or testing procedures.
  • Audit Participation: Participate in both internal and external quality audits (if any), providing necessary documentation, reports, and corrective action plans.
  • Communication and Reporting: Prepare and deliver quality reports to management, offering data-driven insights and recommending actions to improve quality performance.
    • Develop, control, and update, SOPs, flow charts, Systems, and methods assigned by Quality Manager.
    • Inspect parts and/or products to customers, company, and supplier dimensional drawings and standards (FAI).
    • Develop procedures for controlling, analyzing, customer complaints and return units, and investigate customer complaints and product issues.

 

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in quality management, Engineering, or related field. Relevant certifications (e.g., ISO, Six- Sigma) are a plus.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in quality control, preferably within the mattress or furniture manufacturing industry.
  • Skills:
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Proficiency in quality management software (e.g., QMS).
    • Excellent communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.
    • Knowledge of regulatory standards, including flammability testing regulations.
